Furlong shines as Bees claim points

The 40-year-old striker opened the scoring after just three minutes and Albert Jarrett sealed the points with a second goal from the penalty spot seven minutes from time.

Morecambe have now conceded 12 goals in their last three games in all competitions and are yet to win this season.

The visitors almost got off to the perfect start but Ian Craney's bending effort hit the post after only a minute and Barnet struck a minute later when former Chelsea striker Furlong capitalised on a mix-up in the Shrimps' area to lash past Barry Roche into the roof of the net.

The away side were unlucky not to equalise 13 minutes into the second half when Laurence Wilson saw a powerful far-post finish disallowed for a push.

But Ian Hendon's side sealed the win late on when Jarrett was fouled in the area before dusting himself down to fire home his first Barnet goal from the spot.
