Defender Yates completes Vale move

The deal to sign Yates was virtually sealed before Adams took over at Vale Park earlier this month, while fellow defender Luke Prosser has penned a new one-year contract with the club. "I have followed Vale from when I was a kid," Yates told the club's official website. "Once I reached 16 and was starting out on my career I obviously didn't go to as many games but it is a club I am proud to be joining and excited to be here. "I would have come here probably before any other club in the league had I got the chance and because I know all about the club and already know some of the players here, I can't wait to get started." Prosser added: "I know it is going to be really hard but it is a case of getting my head down and making sure I come back for the pre-season in good condition. "I didn't really expect to play as many games as I did last season. I felt I made quite a few big mistakes in some games but I think I have learned from them and hopefully that will make me stronger as a player and I see myself pushing for a starting place this year."
