Carlton makes Shrimps return

Striker Danny Carlton has returned to Morecambe on a one-month loan deal from Carlisle United.

The 24-year-old joined the Cumbrians in the summer of 2007, but has struggled to make his mark at Brunton Park, scoring just three times in 51 appearances.

Shrimps boss Sammy McIlroy told his club's official website: "I am delighted to have Danny back at Christie Park.

"We need cover up front at the moment because of our injury problems and Danny fits the bill perfectly.

"He knows the lads and will fit into our style of play almost immediately and he will also give the supporters a real lift too.

"I have been looking at bringing him back for a while and I am glad a deal has now been agreed."
