McIlroy saw his side enjoy the best of starts with a goal after just four minutes before being pegged back by Simon Richman's 42nd-minute equaliser to give the Valiants their eighth away draw of the campaign. McIlroy said: "We had a great start and scored a really good goal but we just weren't able to kick on. "It was difficult for both sides to play good football with the high winds and poor pitch but our lack of quality in the final third was a disappointment again while we managed to concede another sloppy goal. "Our keeper hasn't had a save to make all day but we couldn't keep a clean sheet and that was another major disappointment for us. But I have to take the positives and it was a much better performance than the one in midweek when we were so poor against Accrington and I was happy with that."
