Bore draw at Morecambe

Morecambe and Stevenage shared the spoils in this lacklustre stalemate at the Globe Arena. In a game of few chances it was Stevenage who had the best opportunity to take the points when they missed a 48th-minute penalty. Morecambe defender Garry Hunter was harshly adjudged to have handled Michael Bridges' header, but Scott Laird's spot-kick was superbly saved by Barry Roche. A minute later Morecambe had a great chance of their own when Scott Brown shot straight at Chris Day and Brown also went close with a left-wing cross that beat everyone but came back off the left-hand post. Both teams traded chances at the end with Day saving from Rundle and Michael Bostwick heading a Lawrie Wilson cross into the side netting. The first half was a sterile affair with neither goalkeeper forced into a save. Morecambe left back Laurence Wilson provided the best moment of the half after 27 minutes when he set off on a run down the left and beat three players before curling an effort wide of the left-hand post.
