The deal means the foodstore will now seek planning permission to develop the site into a major new store, which will - together with the new stadium project - create hundreds of jobs in the area and attract millions of pounds worth of investment.[LNB]Club chairman Peter McGuigan told Morecambe's official website: "This is a fantastic opportunity to establish Morecambe football club as a Football League side for many years to come. The new stadium will provide an opportunity for the club to raise fresh revenue streams which would be impossible to achieve at Christie Park and should therefore ensure our financial viability.[LNB]"The sale of Christie Park to Sainsbury's is great news for us and the local community since it allows us to not only build a fantastic future for the club but also to provide much needed community sports facilities."[LNB]Sainsbury's' regional development executive Jo Try said: "We are delighted to have the opportunity to bring a Sainsbury's foodstore to Morecambe and to have been able to make things happen for the football club along the way."[LNB]Construction on the new stadium will get under way in the spring with completion scheduled in time for the 2010/11 season. Christie Park will officially be handed over to Sainsbury's in July 2010.[LNB][LNB]
