Bidders warned off Baker

Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy has warned potential bidders off midfielder Carl Baker, who has made a flying start to his Shrimps career.

The 24-year-old has netted six goals in 14 outings for Morecambe since his arrival from Southport, with a number of clubs believed to be monitoring his progress.

McIlroy told The Visitor: "It is a concern. Carl is on fire at the moment and is showing why I pursued him for so long.

"But it is going to take a lot of money to prise Carl Baker away from here. If anyone wants him, they are going to have to have a big cheque.

"He has moved his family here and he is a fantastic lad to work with. We are trying to build a club here and not be a feeder club for other teams."
