Montrose face uphill battle

Montrose are without Graham Webster through illness as they look to avoid history by beating visitors Queen's Park.

The Gabe Endies will become the first senior side to have to battle for their league place via a play-off against either the Highland or Lowland League winners if they fail to win and other results go against them.

Their cause is not helped by knee injuries that have ruled out Ross McCord, Bryan Deasley and Leighton McIntosh, while an ankle problem keeps out Stephen Day.

Manager Paul Hegarty said: "It will be a tall order to avoid the play-offs but that is what we are trying to do."

Second placed Queen's Park have added Pat Slattery to their squad for a second time on loan from Queen of the South and the Spiders also have Vinny Berry available after injury.

James Baty continues to be absent with a groin injury and Shaun Fraser and Ryan Hynes are both injury doubts.

Head coach Gus MacPherson said: "Montrose will be playing for points and pride as they will not want to finish at the bottom. That can be a very powerful combination so we will face a tough afternoon at Links Park.

"We will look to get the win and then check the Albion Rovers result afterwards."
