Paul Watson missing for Montrose
Montrose are again without captain Paul Watson, who has had surgery on a stomach muscle problem, when Scottish League Two leaders Annan visit.
Knee injuries also ruled out Andrew Steeves, Terry Masson and Ross McCord for what is set to be a difficult fixture for the home side.
Manager Paul Hartley is hoping that the youngsters brought in to cover have learned some lessons after Saturday's 3-1 defeat from Stirling Albion, as he explained: "Any team in this league would miss those four players and we are no different. They have lots of experience between them and that was missed at the weekend.
"If players have learned from that game we have a chance against Annan."
Annan are looking to move five points clear and manager Jim Chapman looks set to start the fit again David Ferguson, Josh Todd and Ryan McStay as he wants to keep his side fresh for their third game in a week.
Greig McDonald and Bryan Gilfillan are both injury doubts.
Chapman said: "It is good to have options as it has been a busy schedule. We are in a good position however we will not be getting ahead of ourselves and the only thoughts we have are about winning at Montrose and getting another three points.
"It will be difficult as they are out to stop a slide."
