Martin on the Boyle

Teenage striker Martin Boyle struck a hat-trick to help Montrose leapfrog Clyde into eighth with a 5-0 victory.

Boyle took his tally to seven in this last four games and 22 for the season with Terry Masson and Alan Campbell also on target.

The visitors nearly got an opening goal inside the first 10 minutes but goalkeeper Sandy Wood denied Jason Marr's close-range effort with his feet.

And it was the Gable Endies who broke the deadlock through Boyle.

Steven McNalley's left-wing cross was volleyed in emphatically by the in-form forward after 20 minutes.

Boyle's second, after 41 minutes, was a fine curling effort which nestled into the bottom corner.

The game was decided in Montrose's favour when Masson lashed in a left-foot volley nine minutes after the break.

Campbell headed Sean Crighton's cross in after 72 minutes before Boyle claimed the match ball three minutes later with a header.
