Wood leaves it late

Garry Wood's late equaliser denied Queen's Park the opportunity to close the gap on leaders Albion, after they drew 2-2 at Montrose.

Scottish League Two's basement side took the lead shortly after the half-hour mark, when midfielder Paul Watson made a dangerous run into the box and fired across goal into the bottom corner.

An own goal from Andrew Steeves levelled for the Spiders before they took the lead two minutes later. Shaun Rooney was found in plenty of space in the box and he coolly converted at the near post, beating a scrambling Stuart McKenzie.

Wood's leveller came nine minutes from time, after good work from Jordan Allan, and he neatly dispatched from 12 yards. Ciaran McElroy nearly won it for the visitors in added time, but McKenzie secured the draw for his side.

Montrose will definitely finish bottom, while the point leaves Queen's Park eight points behind Albion.
