Montrose hit back to dent East Fife's promotion bid

Montrose came from two goals down to snatch a 2-2 draw against Ladbrokes League Two promotion chasers East Fife.

Goals from Kyle Wilkie and Jason Kerr looked to have sealed a fifth successive league win for the visitors, and one that would have taken them to the top of the table, but Gary Fraser pulled one back before Terry Masson's fierce effort from distance ensured a share of the points.

The Fifers took a 10th-minute lead when Wilkie collected the ball on the edge of box before turning and curling past Montrose goalkeeper Alex Tokarczyk with aplomb.

Montrose responded well and had several chances to draw level, although the closest they came was when Graham Webster struck the top of the bar from long range just after the interval.

East Fife doubled their advantage shortly afterwards, with Kerr heading home from Gary Naysmith's 58th-minute free-kick.

Fraser pulled one back 12 minutes later with a smart finish before Masson's screamer in the dying stages ensured the points were shared.
