Queen's Park hit Montrose for six

Queen's Park recorded their first win in Ladbrokes League Two since September with a comfortable 6-1 victory over Montrose at Links Park.

Montrose took a sixth-minute lead through Adrian Mallagaray but the Spiders hit back with three goals before the half-hour mark to all-but seal the points.

Paul Woods, who opened the scoring, then added his second of the game on 80 minutes before Jamie McKernon and Sean Burns added further gloss to the scoreline.

Despite a 10-minute delay, the game burst into life when Mallagaray's left-footed shot gave the hosts an early lead.

Queen's Park were level within nine minutes when Woods tapped home Burns' cross and they took the lead when Montrose goalkeeper Ross Salmon dropped the ball into his own net from another Burns delivery.

The impressive Burns then saw an effort rattle against the post but Ryan McGeever was on hand to covert the rebound after 27 minutes.

Mallagaray came close to reducing the deficit for Montrose in the second half but Woods netted his third goal in two games with 10 minutes left.

McKernon then fired into the top corner after 83 minutes and Burns curled home a free-kick in added time to complete the scoring.
