Stirling sink 10-man Montrose

Stirling started the new league season with a hard-fought 2-1 win against 10-man Montrose at Links Park.

Dale Fulton got the visitors off to a flying start when he thumped home a fine drive from the edge of the penalty area after seven minutes.

Phillip Johnston went close for the hosts, but could not find a way past Stuart McKenzie who made a fine save.

Their afternoon worsened on the half-hour mark when Richard McIntosh wasshown a straight red card for his challenge on Johnston.

But the Gable Endies were level eight minutes later when Graham Webster poked home following some good work by Ross McCord.

Mark Ferry restored the Binos' lead with 15 minutes remaining, when he rose highest to head home Chris Smith's cross.
