French football authorites on Thursday banned veteran Montpellier player Cyril Jeunechamp for one year for striking a journalist in the face at the end of a league match on November 17.
The 37-year-old defender, who has a poor disciplinary record on the field of play, was suspended on a provisonal basis on November 23 following the incident which happened at the end of an away game against Valenciennes.
Jeunechamp accosted the journalist in the corridors of Valenciennes' Stade Hainaut and struck him on the face in protest against an article written about him.
