Ligue 1 champions Montpellier completed their latest close-season signing on Friday with the capture of Nice winger Anthony Mounier on a four-year deal.

Mounier, 24, moves to the Stade de la Mosson for a reported 3.25 million euros ($4.1m) after three seasons on the Cote d'Azur with Nice.

Montpellier beat Lyon and St Etienne to the signature of a player who began his career at Lyon but left in 2009 after making just 20 Ligue 1 appearances.

Mounier is the third player to join the Ligue 1 champions this summer, after defender Daniel Congre was signed from Toulouse and attacker Gaetan Charbonnier joined from second tier club Angers.

Earlier this week, Montpellier lost star striker Olivier Giroud, with last season's Ligue 1 leading scorer joining English giants Arsenal.

Rene Girard's team are preparing for a crack at next season's Champions League after winning the French title for the first time in their history.
