Monaco's Italian coach Marco Simone is the subject of an investigation over allegations he racially abused an airport worker, a prosecutor here told AFP on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on August 15 when the former footballer was at Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris for a flight.

According to French television channel M6, Simone repeatedly insulted a member of airport staff after being asked to stop his child from playing in front of a woman who was being transported through the airport in a wheelchair.

The airport worker made a complaint to border police the following day.
