Major League Soccer will stage this year's All-Star Game between top league players and a top international club on July 25 at Philadelphia, the league announced on Tuesday.

MLS All-Star squads are 5-2 with one draw against elite club teams in eight prior matchups using the format.

Manchester United provided the opposition the past two years with Everton playing the MLS lineup in 2009 and Chelsea making the trip in 2006.

This year's opponent will be announced later this year.

The Philadelphia Union, who will open their third MLS season in March, will host the contest, the first All-Star Game in the city since the NBA All-Star Game in 2002.
