Mikele Leigertwood started his career at Wimbledon in 2001 but didn't make his professional debut until he went on loan to Leyton Orient in November 2001. He scored just twice in his 65 appearances for Wimbledon, his first being at the end of the 2001/2002 season in a match against Barnsley. In January 2004 he transferred to Crystal Palace for a fee of 155,000 pounds.
