Robinson revels in Dons Cup win
MK Dons manager Karl Robinson could not hide his delight after Lewis Guy's extra-time goal saw his side dump Premier League Blackpool out of the Carling Cup with a 4-3 win at stadium:mk.
The home side led in the first minute through Sam Baldock before Brett Ormerod brought the visitors level after the break. Jermaine Easter then netted twice in as many minutes before a free-kick from Ludovic Sylvestre gave Blackpool a lifeline before a late penalty from substitute Charlie Adam took the game into extra-time where Guy struck the winner.
"I'm delighted for the boys," Robinson said. "They were fantastic and what pleased me the most was that we dominated a Premier League team for long periods."
He added: "We scored some unbelievable goals that would have graced any ground in the country. When we moved the football quickly we looked a very good side against a team that got out of one of the toughest leagues in Europe last season. They were a tough test for us and I'm immensely pleased."
Robinson also paid tribute to the Dons' fans, and was glad to have given them a night to remember.
He continued: "I'm sure this will live long in the memory of our fans. At 3-3, we wouldn't have got the result without them and I mean that.
"You don't realise how loud it is down there and how much it spurs you on and I'd love our fans to know how it feels. To have people singing for you, knowing you're there fighting for them gives you two or three more gears and that happens at every level.
"It means an awful lot to the players and now we have to emulate that when games are at 0-0 and not quite going our way."
The Dons now go into the third round draw, and Robinson is hopeful of being handed a meeting with one of the Premier League's top sides.
"I don't care who we get, but the money men would like Manchester United away, live on Sky," he said. "These competitions mean a lot to clubs like us and we're having a good run, so let's get a nice draw that brings us some money. But we'll be going out to win it whoever it's against."
