New Dons deal for Di Matteo
30 Dec 2008 - 12:46:17
MK Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo has signed a contract extension to keep him at the club until summer 2011.
The rookie manager took over at stadium:mk in July following Paul Ince's departure and has led the club to their current second place in the League One table.
Di Matteo's number two, Eddie Newton, and fitness coach Ade Mafe have also agreed two-year contract extensions.
"It has been an extremely enjoyable first six months in management and I hope that, together with the players, the staff and the chairman, we can take this club forward," the Italian told the club's official website.
"We have faced many challenges since I arrived here, but the hard work, character and professionalism of everyone associated with this club has taken us into a strong position as we approach the new year.
"We still have a long way to go and there is a lot of work to be done, but I'm very excited about the possibilities."
Meanwhile, the Dons have reached an agreement with Chelsea to extend defender Shaun Cummings' loan until the end of the season.
