Milton Keynes Dons 3-0 Tranmere: Match Report
Rovers pay penalty
Shaun Williams scored a brace of penalties as MK Dons returned to winning ways by beating Tranmere 3-0.
Williams' double plus Stephen Gleeson's clinical finish handed the Dons their first win in five games to strengthen their grip on a play-off place.
Williams netted his first penalty in the 10th minute, firing the ball in off the post after Daniel Powell had been tripped in the box by Zoumana Bakayogo.
Jake Cassidy missed the chance to equalise for Tranmere when his low 33rd-minute penalty was saved by David Martin, after Gary MacKenzie had dragged down Robbie Weir in the box.
The rebound fell kindly to Rovers centre-back Ian Goodison but he ballooned it high over the bar with the goal at his mercy.
Gleeson made them pay by doubling the Dons' lead three minutes before the break, drilling a fine low finish past Owain Fon Williams after Goodison had failed to clear Charlie MacDonald's cutback.
The Dons dominated the second half and Williams sealed a comfortable win by converting his second spot-kick in the 73rd minute, after MacDonald had been hauled back by David Buchanan.
