MK Dons boss Paul Ince praised the defensive quality of his side, after they won the first leg of their Johnstone's Paint Trophy Southern Area final 1-0 at Swansea City.
Jemal Johnson rifled in the only goal of the game at the Liberty Stadium, as the Dons withstood heavy pressure from the runaway League One leaders.
Ince said after the victory: "We had to ride our luck a little in the first half, but all credit to the players for hanging in there. We weathered the storm and managed to take the lead.
"I told the players at half-time that we were top of our league and we showed them too much respect and stood off them.
"We looked stronger after the break and deserved the goal.
"There's a long way to go and nobody is getting carried away, but it's a great result for us."
