First deal for Dons starlet

MK Dons have handed a first professional contract to academy graduate Daniel Powell.

The 17-year-old winger has penned a two-and-a-half year contract at stadium:mk after breaking into manager Roberto Di Matteo's first-team plans this season.

"Things have been going really well for me this season. I didn't expect to be involved with the first team as much as I have been this season, but I was quietly hopeful I might get a chance," Powell told the club's official website.

"I'm very grateful to the manager for giving me the opportunity to play and it shows young players coming through the academy that the club has a manager who has faith in young players.

"I've still got a lot to learn and a lot to improve on but I want to develop into the player the club thinks I can be."
