MK Dons will be without Gareth Edds for up to four months after the defender underwent surgery to cure a long-running ankle problem.
The 26-year-old Australian has made ten appearances for the League Two high-fliers this season before the decision was taken to send him for surgery.
"He had what's known as Haglund's deformity coupled with Os Trigonum Syndrome and Osteophyte formation (bone spurs) in the ankle so there were a number of problems affecting his performance," head physio Simon Crampton told the club's official website.
"Collectively, these problems were causing Eddsy a lot of pain, obviously reducing the movement of his ankle and preventing him performing to his maximum.
"Gareth is a great pro and now that he's had the operation I'm sure he'll be working hard on his rehab every day to make sure that he now not only gets back playing quickly, but is stronger for it."
