Dons fight pleases Di Matteo

MK Dons boss Roberto Di Matteo was pleased with the battling display from his players during Tuesday's 1-0 win at Stockport County.

The Dons kept pace with League One leaders Leicester City after Aaron Wilbraham's goal settled a tight game on a testing surface at Edgeley Park.

"I thought we put in a great performance in the first half attacking-wise and a great performance in the second half defending-wise," said Di Matteo.

"I think we've shown many times this season that we can deliver both - we can play football if we need to and we can battle if we need to.

"I think the whole team battled very well. It's always pleasing to keep a clean sheet, especially at a difficult ground like this.

"The pitch doesn't look much like a football pitch, to be honest, and it was impossible to pass the ball.

"But we created some good chances for ourselves in the first half and Aaron took the goal very well."
