Cole joins Ince for Dons role
13 Aug 2009 - 17:16:27
MK Dons manager Paul Ince has appointed former Manchester United team-mate Andrew Cole to help coach the club's forwards.
Cole is the second-highest goalscorer in Premier League history and retired just last year.
The 37-year-old was known to be keen to embark on a career in coaching and he has been given a start by Ince who is hoping to win promotion to the Championship with the Dons.
Ince explained Cole's role to the club's official website.
He said: "Introducing Andy Cole here just shows how we want to go forward. We want a good strikers coach, it's something a lot of teams do now and Coley has volunteered his services.
"It's great because when you see someone like Andy Cole coming to Milton Keynes and working with the likes of Jermaine Easter, Jemal Johnson and Jason Puncheon - just him being here and passing on his advice can only enhance their confidence.
"It's early doors yet and Coley lives in Manchester, so we'll give it a couple of weeks and see how it goes. We'll see how he enjoys it and take it from there."
