Abbey targets starting spot

MK Dons goalkeeper Nathan Abbey is determined to become the club's first-choice shot-stopper after agreeing a new one-year deal with Paul Ince's side.
The 29-year-old spent most of the 2007-08 campaign on the substitute's bench, with Willy Gueret the regular keeper.
However, former Torquay United and Brentford keeper Abbey told the Dons' official website: "I won't approach next season any differently from last year. I worked hard, I trained hard and I felt like I gave Willy a good push.
"Credit to Willy, he had a fantastic season and showed what a good keeper he is. There weren't many opportunities for me to knock on the manager's door and say 'look, I'm here, I'm ready to play,' because Willy didn't create that opportunity for me.
"I've got to take that on the chin, work as hard next year and maybe things will turn and I'll get a chance."
