Robins fall into the drop zone

The home side took the lead after 17 minutes with an excellent header by Billy Paynter from Anthony McNamee's cross. Simon Cox then hit the woodwork with a tremendous shot after 34 minutes but should have done better and this was after Aaron Wilbraham had equalised after the home defence failed to clear a corner. Kevin Amankwaah saw his shot on the stroke of half-time blocked by goalkeeper Willy Gueret, who was able to parry a follow-up from Cox, who finally put the ball wide. Both sides might have scored more in the first half but the second half was all Swindon's and they created chance after chance, but could not turn their superiority into a goal. MK Dons made strong appeals for a penalty, but referee Andy D'Urso was not interested and the visitors' woes were compounded when captain Dean Lewington was dismissed following a second booking in the 86th minute.
