MK Dons v Southampton: Preview

15 September 2010 14:25
MK Dons captain Dean Lewington returns as Karl Robinson's side host Southampton in Nigel Adkins' first game in charge.

Lewington missed the 2-0 defeat at Brighton on Saturday thanks to a one-match ban but will come straight back in at left-back against the Saints.

Striker Aaron Wilbraham will be back on the bench as he prepares to make his first appearance of the season since injuring his back in pre-season.

Summer signing Gary Mackenzie is still waiting for his debut as he recovers from an injury sustained in the summer but may be back in the squad for the weekend.

Luke Howell could recover from a dead leg but Jude Stirling rests his groin injury and Stephen Gleeson is still absent as he recovers from a muscle injury.

Saints boss Adkins will be without Lee Barnard and Adam Lallana.

Striker Barnard misses out as he serves the final instalment of a three-match ban for his sending-off against Swindon in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Midfielder Lallana faces around six weeks on the sidelines after undergoing an operation on his injured knee and will not be back until the end of October.

Summer signing Frazer Richardson is still recovering from a dislocated shoulder but hopes to finally make his debut some time next month.

Fellow injury victims Dan Seaborne (foot) and Lee Holmes (groin) remain doubtful.

Adkins will be hoping to inspire a change in fortunes, with Saints having lost all three games since former boss Alan Pardew was sacked last month.
