Double blow for Dons

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson will be without Stephen Gleeson and Luke Chadwick for the Boxing Day game with Walsall.

Gleeson could be ruled out for up to three months with a broken foot sustained in training.

Chadwick suffered knee ligament damage, also in training, which could mean an eight-week spell on the sidelines for the midfielder.

Central defender Gary MacKenzie is closing in on a first-team return following a hip injury but is not likely to feature until January.

On-loan striker Patrick Bamford continues to have his hamstring injury assessed by parent club Chelsea, meaning Ryan Lowe will keep his place in the side.

Robinson's men were due to take on Doncaster on Saturday, but with the game postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, the Saddlers clash will be the promotion chasers' first game in 11 days.

Florent Cuvelier will hope to play a bigger role in Walsall as he steps up his return to fitness.

The talismanic on-loan Stoke midfielder returned from two months out with a hamstring injury to play the final 13 minutes of Saturday's 1-0 win over Colchester - a result which finally ended the Saddlers' 16-match winless run.

Cuvelier is not expected to start at stadium:mk but another appearance off the bench is on the cards.

Walsall suffered no fresh injury or suspension problems during the victory, in which skipper Andy Butler also made his comeback from suspension.

Midfielder Nicky Featherstone will be assessed after an ankle injury picked up in training ruled him out at the weekend.

The Saddlers face a tough task against a high-flying Dons side who have won six and lost just one of their previous eight league games and have only dropped seven points on home soil this term.
