Alan Smith is expected to be included in the MK Dons squad that takes on League One promotion rivals Sheffield Wednesday at stadium:mk.

Smith has joined the Dons on loan from Newcastle for the remainder of the season and the former Leeds and Manchester United player, who can operate in midfield or up front, could make his debut for Karl Robinson's side on Tuesday night.

Mathias Doumbe will miss out through suspension after he was sent off during the defeat to Stevenage.

Tom Flanagan is likely to replace the Frenchman in defence. Midfielders Shaun Williams and Darren Potter were absent against Boro last Tuesday and it remains to be seen whether they will recover from the knocks that ruled them out.

Sheffield Wednesday's new loan signing John Bostock is in contention to make his debut. The Tottenham midfielder signed on loan until the end of the season on Monday and will be included in the squad.

The Owls will also be boosted by the return of centre-half Miguel Llera and winger Mike Jones, who were both ineligible for Saturday's FA Cup clash at Blackpool, while another defender, Reda Johnson, will also return to contention following a back injury.

Skipper Rob Jones remains doubtful after missing the last two games due to an ankle injury and fellow defender Daniel Jones will be sidelined for another four to six weeks with a calf complaint.

Manager Gary Megson made seven changes for the fourth-round tie at Blackpool and is expected to revert back to his strongest league line-up, meaning strikers Gary Madine and Chris O'Grady, in-form winger Jermaine Johnson and midfielder Jose Semedo are all likely to return to the starting line-up.
