Posh low on numbers

Peterborough will be without eight senior players when Tranmere visit London Road in the FA Cup.

Right-back Mark Little suffered a hamstring injury during last weekend's league win over Wolves and joins fellow defenders Gaby Zakuani (Achilles) and Craig Alcock (calf), midfielders Danny Kearns (hip), Joe Newell (thigh) and Kane Ferdinand, striker Kyle Vassell and captain Tommy Rowe (knee) on the sidelines.

Ferdinand and Vassell are both cup-tied having already featured in the competition for Northampton and Bishop's Stortford respectively.

However, on-loan QPR midfielder Hogan Ephraim will be available for the second round tie after extending his stay with Darren Ferguson's men until the end of January.

Tranmere's Jon Otsemobor will be given as long as possible to recover from back bruising.

The full-back, who has not trained all week, arrived at Prenton Park on loan last Thursday from MK Dons but his debut lasted just five minutes after he went hurtling over an advertising hoarding, falling on his back.

Rovers are already short of defensive options with Ash Taylor completing a three-game suspension and Ian Goodison out until the new year with a groin injury, so Liam Ridehalgh could shift inside from full-back.

Head injuries are unlikely to keep Jean Louis Akpa-Akpro and James Wallace out while midfielder Andy Robinson (knee) could be included on the bench.
