Dons clip Magpies' wings

Lewis Baker's stunning strike helped keep MK Dons' automatic promotion hopes alive as they saw off Notts County 4-1 at stadium:mk.

Baker chipped Magpies goalkeeper Roy Carroll after Carl Baker had earlier given the Dons a lead and although Elliott Whitehouse narrowed the gap, substitute Will Grigg's late double wrapped up the points.

Carroll palmed Daniel Powell's early effort over the crossbar and the Northern Ireland stopper denied Ben Reeves five minutes before the break but he was finally beaten just after the hour mark.

Carl Baker showed excellent composure to skip around a number of County challenges and smashed home his seventh goal of the season from close range.

The hosts doubled their lead after 74 minutes when Chelsea loanee Lewis Baker brought the ball down and lobbed a helpless Carroll before Whitehouse poked home for the visitors five minutes later.

But Grigg turned home Dean Bowditch's 85th-minute cross before notching his 15th goal of the season from close range in injury time as the Dons recorded a second straight win.
