Green rescues Dons

Substitute Danny Green's late goal salvaged a 2-2 draw for MK Dons against Rochdale to move his side to within five points of League One leaders Bristol City.

The Dons controlled much of the game yet looked to heading away with nothing thanks to a stunning goal by Reuben Noble-Lazarus only for Green to prevent what would have been a second home loss of the season.

MK Dons struck first after 19 minutes when Will Grigg controlled Dele Alli's long pass before lofting a delightful chip over Conrad Logan and into the net.

However, their lead lasted for only a minute as Jamie Allen was allowed to run before finding Noble-Lazarus and his low cross was turned into his own net by Tom Flanagan.

Rochdale looked to have snatched the points with 14 minutes left thanks to a glorious long-range strike by Barnsley loanee Noble-Lazarus which flew past David Martin.

But the hosts found salvation after 85 minutes when Green slid into an empty net after fellow substitute Benik Afobe had been denied by the excellent Logan.
