Lowe frustrated and Dons denied

Ryan Lowe had three goals disallowed as MK Dons were left cursing their luck following a goalless home draw with Crawley.

Lowe was twice denied by the offside flag in the first half and again late on as the Dons failed to convert their dominance into a third straight win.

Lowe had a header and a close-range tap-in ruled out and curled another shot just over the crossbar before his close-range half-volley was brilliantly saved by Paul Jones.

Dons forward Dean Bowditch also blasted a 25-yard drive inches wide before crossing low for Daniel Powell to somehow blaze over the bar from four yards out.

Billy Clarke twice went close for Crawley following swift counter-attacks. First when he lashed a half-volley just over the crossbar and then when he drilled a low shot narrowly wide of the far post.

The visitors started the second half brightly and Nicky Adams's deflected shot went just wide before Clarke had a long-range effort held by goalkeeper Ian McLoughlin.

The Dons regained control but the luckless Lowe dragged another good chance wide and then had a third goal disallowed for offside after finishing well from a tight angle, while Shaun Williams was denied by Jones and Bowditch curled free-kick just wide at the death.
