Robins stay top after draw

Bristol City kept their place at the top of Sky Bet League One after a 0-0 draw against fellow promotion-contenders MK Dons.

Carl Baker threatened for the hosts inside five minutes with a strike from the edge of the Robins' area, but Frankie Fielding did enough to collect in the City goal.

The visitors had their first effort on target after 30 minutes when Jay Emmanuel-Thomas found himself in space on the edge of the Dons' area, only for David Martin to parry his powerful shot wide.

The Dons were almost caught napping straight from the half-time restart when Emmanuel-Thomas picked up a loose ball, sailed unchallenged into the box and had his curling shot bravely blocked by Kyle McFadzean.

And Emmanuel-Thomas was in on the act again just after the hour when he had another powerful long-range strike saved by Martin.

Antony Kay went close at the other end from a Baker corner with an accurate header, but Fielding collected well and the honours remained even - despite a late penalty appeal when Samir Carruthers' shot blasted off the arm of City's Luke Ayling.
