Lewis the Guy for the Dons

Lewis Guy climbed off the bench to score a late winner for 10-man MK Dons as they beat Hartlepool 1-0. Guy converted Sam Baldock's cross 13 minutes from the end to break Pools' stubborn resistance, before Dean Lewington saw red in the 84th minute for a professional foul. Dons striker Jermaine Easter missed the only clear chance of a low-key first half when he was denied one-on-one by keeper Scott Flinders, after Luke Chadwick's perfect pass had sent him clear. Angelo Balanta drilled a left-foot shot narrowly wide from distance for the hosts, while Baldock mis-cued when well placed from Danny Woodards' cross. The Dons continued to dominate after the break but they struggled to create openings until substitute Guy volleyed Baldock's cross into the top corner from eight yards in the 77th minute. Lewington was given his marching orders six minutes from the end for hauling down Antony Sweeney as he broke through on goal. Hartlepool piled forward in search of an equaliser in the dying minutes but Sweeney and substitute Colin Larkin missed from close range as the Dons hung on for a fourth straight home win.
