Di Matteo rues Swailes absence
The defender last featured for the Dons in August and is unlikely to play again this season as he recovers from extensive Achilles damage.
Di Matteo told the Citizen: "He hasn't joined the squad yet, he is still doing his rehab.
"He had an operation on both his Achilles tendons and it is a very delicate area of your body as a professional athlete and it has taken time to recover from that.
"I know he was one of the best players last year and also that he's respected in the dressing room.
"It has been very frustrating as in the summer we thought he was going return from his injury and knew he would be a big boost."
