Di Matteo pleased with Dons show

Despite the hosts creating a hatful of chances in the League One clash at Roots Hall, Mark Wright opened the scoring on the hour mark for the Dons before he grabbed a second in stoppage time. Di Matteo said: "It was a very good victory for us. It's not an easy place to come to and Southend are on a good run, so to get the win was great. "We played well. Southend created a few chances and we needed Willy (Gueret) and the defence to defend well and make a few good saves. "But all around the team we defended well and going forward we looked dangerous." Regarding his side's promotion chances, the former Chelsea player admitted: "We cannot influence other results but we go home in a good position. We have five games left and let's see what happens."
