Worthington: McQuoid is the way forward

Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington has backed Josh McQuoid to have a positive impact on his squad after calling up the Millwall striker for Tuesday's Euro 2012 qualifier against Slovenia. McQuoid, 21, has been summoned to provide attacking cover in the absence of injured Kyle Lafferty and the suspended David Healy. "Josh is a good young player with plenty to offer us," Worthington told the Belfast Telegraph. "He has a good turn of pace and is full of enthusiasm and drive and will be a welcome addition for what is now a very big game. He is also another young player in the squad and I really see that as the way forward for us." McQuoid made his international debut against Morocco in November and has also represented the Under-21s six times.
