Wilkins ends Lions stay

Millwall have confirmed that football consultant Ray Wilkins has left the club, and they are taking their time in finding a managerial replacement for Nigel Spackman.
Wilkins, who was assistant boss at the New Den during Dennis Wise's spell in charge, returned to the Lions in March to help out then boss David Tuttle and was asked to stay on during the close-season, despite Spackman's arrival as manager.
However, he has now left and Lions chairman Stewart Till claims his stint at the club was never a long-term arrangement.
"At that time, we felt having someone of Ray's experience and knowledge would be a great advantage," he told the club's official website.
"It was always the intention on both sides that, once the season was underway, Ray would leave us."
Meanwhile, caretaker boss Willie Donachie has been boosted in his bid to secure the job on a permanent basis after Till confirmed they are in no rush to replace Spackman, who was sacked last week.
He added: "The last two results (a 1-1 draw with Brentford and 3-2 win at Rotherham) have confirmed that, with Willie Donachie in charge, the team are in good hands.
"We would be more than happy if he continues to make a good case for being given the position on a permanent basis."
