Spiller opts for hip surgery

Unfortunate Millwall midfielder Danny Spiller faces at least another four months on the sidelines after being forced to have a hip operation.

The 27-year-old former Gillingham player has not started a game for the Lions for almost 15 months because of a hernia problem, although he did make three brief substitute appearances last month.

"Danny elected to have surgery on his hip last week," said Lions physio Bobby Bacic.

"The surgeon carried out a full investigation of both the hip and the groin and he expects Danny to return to full training in four months' time."
