Spackman sweats on injury woes
09 Aug 2006 - 14:38:59
Millwall boss Nigel Spackman is anxiously awaiting news on striker Darren Byfield's ankle injury, while Maurice Ross suffered a hamstring problem in the 2-0 defeat at Leyton Orient.
Byfield was stretchered off after 19 minutes at Brisbane Road and is facing further examinations to determine the full extent of the problem, as Spackman contemplates being without his two first-choice hit men with Ben May already out.
He told the club's official website: "Darren is having another scan and X-ray and we should have the results of those by Thursday morning and naturally we're hoping that the injury is not too serious.
"One or two other players, including Maurice Ross, have been in for treatment on Wednesday and again I should have a clearer picture on Thursday morning who is likely to be available for Saturday."
Meanwhile Spackman is set to launch an appeal against 21-year-old Tony Craig's red card in the fourth minute of the game against the O's.
