    Spackman rules out Elliott exit

    23 Aug 2006 - 10:16:36

Millwall boss Nigel Spackman has backed midfielder Marvin Elliott to be a Premiership player one day, but denied reports linking him with a move to Reading.

The 21-year-old has been one of the Lions' star performers in League One this term and Spackman wants him to stay put and help them make a swift return to the Championship following last season's relegation.

He said: "There's no truth in that - Marvin's here, he plays well, he trains well and hopefully he'll get better here.

"And I don't think he's ready to be a Premiership player yet."

He added: "Marvin's getting better all the time, he has great energy levels and when you give him a job to do he's disciplined and an excellent player.

"He has a lot of work to do on other things but he's working hard in training and if the lad keeps improving he could end up being a Premiership player one day."
