Posh pull plug on Whitbread deal
Whitbread is on the transfer list at the New Den and Posh had a bid accepted for the former Liverpool defender.
However after calling the move off Ferguson has signed Birmingham defender Krystian Pearce on a season-long loan deal to compete with Craig Morgan and Gabriel Zakuani.
Ferguson told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: "We did have contact with Millwall and I understand we had a bid accepted. We spoke with the player, but we won't be going ahead with the deal because his wage demands were too high.
"There is no doubt that Zak is a quality player, but it's now not a position we need cover for.
"Gaby and Craig showed their worth last season, while Krystian is an exciting prospect."
