Maierhofer to be assessed

Millwall will check on Stefan Maierhofer ahead of the home game against Birmingham.

The striker suffered a knee injury during Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Leeds but has a chance of being fit to face the Lions' relegation rivals.

Full-back Scott Malone is out with a hip injury, Mark Beevers is struggling with a calf knock and fellow centre-half Danny Shittu will miss the rest of the season with an Achilles problem.

Shaun Williams completes a two-match ban while Lee Martin (knee), Richard Chaplow (Achilles) and Jermaine Easter (thigh) remain on the sidelines.

Birmingham are expected to be without Emyr Huws as they search for a first Championship win in six.

The Manchester City loanee was forced off with a hip problem during the first half of Saturday's home defeat to Reading and is a doubt for Lee Clark's men.

Striker Lee Novak is also a worry after he was forced off with a knock at half-time against the Royals and Jordon Ibe, his replacement on Saturday, could deputise in what would be his second start for the club since joining on loan from Liverpool.

Brian Howard could be involved against his former employers after the veteran midfielder recovered from an ankle problem but, having only made three league starts all season, a place on the bench is the more likely outcome.
