Lee Gregory double earns Millwall win

Lee Gregory scored twice as Millwall beat Port Vale 3-1 to win at home for the first time since November.

The hosts had lost their last four in all competitions at the Den, but they now just sit a point off the play-off places in League One.

Gregory opened the scoring after 14 minutes, getting on the end of a Jed Wallace cross to loop a header over Jak Alnwick.

The visitors could have been level minutes later but Jordan Archer made two saves in quick succession to deny first Sam Foley and then Colin Daniel.

Millwall doubled their lead when Gregory slotted a penalty in the corner after being brought down by Richard Duffy.

The Lions' third came just before the interval, thanks to captain Steve Morison who side-footed into the back of the net after Vale failed to clear a loose ball.

The visitors grabbed a consolation when substitute JJ Hooper volleyed home Michael O'Connor's free-kick, but they could not get another to put Millwall under real pressure.
