Lee Gregory blows late penalty as Millwall are held by Crewe

Lee Gregory missed a late penalty for Millwall in a 1-1 draw with relegation-threatened Crewe at The Den.

The match featured three controversial spot-kicks and striker Gregory had already cancelled out one from Crewe's Brad Inman, who had put the visitors ahead in the 59th minute.

Referee Christopher Kavanagh first pointed to the spot after Crewe winger George Cooper went down when sprinting past Jordan Archer, though it appeared the Millwall keeper had got out of the way, and Inman capitalised.

Five minutes later, Millwall defender Byron Webster was adjudged to have been fouled after Crewe keeper Ben Garratt came to claim a high cross at a corner and Gregory levelled.

Garratt had denied Millwall from all angles in the first half with Aiden O'Brien, Gregory and Steve Morison all having excellent chances blocked by the inspired stopper.

For Crewe, James Jones forced Archer into a strong save after striking a loose ball from the edge of the area.

The match was decided from the spot and having already scored once, Gregory will have expected to seal all three points only to strike a post at the death after Oliver Turton handled.
