Milan Lalkovic's winner sends Walsall top of League One

Milan Lalkovic struck the only goal of the game as Walsall beat Millwall 1-0 at The Den to go top of Sky Bet League One on goal difference.

In Sean O'Driscoll's first away game in charge of the Saddlers, they were ahead shortly before the half-hour mark through Lalkovic's seventh strike of the season.

A long ball over the top was misjudged by teenager Sid Nelson, allowing the Slovakian to slip in and slot his effort past Lions goalkeeper David Forde.

The Saddlers went in at half-time 1-0 up, but nine minutes after the restart it looked like Millwall had equalised when Aiden O'Brien got on the end of a Steve Morison cross in the six-yard box. However, Neil Etheridge made a spectacular save at the near post to deny the hosts.

Millwall pushed up looking to level matters and with two minutes left, O'Brien's header hit the crossbar.

Etheridge then had to save a Morison effort, but the leveller never arrived and the Lions have now lost three home games on the spin.
